Location

One can comfortably say that the Kempinski Hotel Corvinus is strategically located as it is just a stone throw away from the Danube River and other major attraction sites in Budapest such as the Chain Bridge, St Stephen’s Basilica, the Parliament, the Opera House, the Castle District & Royal Palace and not forgetting the Shopping/ Fashion Street. There is also a metro station next to the hotel connecting the city with the airport in just 40 minutes.

Check In

On arrival at the hotel, we immediately understood that we are going to have a fantastic weekend there. To begin with, the atmosphere, once you enter, is so soothing that you will almost have your mind transition to a relaxation mood. The open lobby has a gigantic chandelier and complimenting colors that make the place have an extra spark class. Everything from the scent, sounds, colors, and choice of furniture at Kempinski Hotel is spot on and seems to fit in perfectly. At the reception area, there are several vases with fresh flowers just to ensure they add in a spark of nature to the already attractive lobby.

After a speedy check-in by the friendly reception staff, we went to check our room while the doormen offered to whisk our bags off to our room for us.

Our room at the Kempinski Hotel

We had a deluxe room and honestly it was more than we hoped it would be. To begin with, the moment I entered the room I fell in love with its colors. There was a king size bed with golden colored pillows, and that’s not all, the room was very spacious, and we easily found a place to keep our belongings without necessarily making the room look untidy.

There were two comfortable armchairs and wooden working desks just in case at some point you need to work on some documents or go through some files. There was also a flat screen Tv, a minibar and a safe. As it was our wedding anniversary, the hotel sent us champagne and a card with a heartwarming message for our anniversary. It was a beautiful gesture.

There is nothing more relaxing than taking a nice shower, and on entering the bathroom, we had to re-define our arsenal meaning of a nice shower. There were a separate toilet and a bathtub with a walk-in shower waiting for us. Other amenities included luxury toiletries, fluffy bathrobes, and slippers.

Breakfast

A breakfast buffet is served at the ES Bistro on the ground floor. The buffet consisted of a variety of fresh fruits and cakes. There was also a corner with cooked food and another one featuring traditional Hungarian foods such as salamis and sausages. Guests also have the option of ordering from an a la carte menu featuring a choice of omelets and pancakes.

Dinner at the Es Bistro

I always love to try the indoor dining at the hotels I visit so one night we went for dinner at the ES Bistro. There was a lot to choose from the menu, but I settled for a burger while my husband had Viennese schnitzel accompanied by Hungarian wine and I have to say that they were all delicious. Unfortunately, it was raining so we sat inside, but the outside seats were looking lovely too.

Other hotel amenities

Other hotel amenities included the sophisticated Blue Fox Bar which is a great place to get pre- and post- dinner drinks, the Nobu Restaurant operated by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa that serves neo-style Japanese cuisine, the Nobu Lounge Bar that serves a  prize-winning sake by Hokusetsueither and the ES Deli where you can find fresh juice and pastries along with its signature coffee made with sustainably grown Rwandan and Guatemalan beans.

Talented designers have redesigned the entire first floor into a contemporary meeting space. This area contains functional furniture sourced from Brunner, Germany.  Built-in audio, high-tech video screens, and adjustable lighting make this one of the top places to attend a meeting in Budapest.

Luxury Spa

Holistic elemental herbology is practiced inside the beautiful spa at this hotel. After an individual consultation, treatments are designed based on the four seasons. Guests can receive body massages to restore balance and energy or facial treatments designed to rejuvenate tired skin. There is also a pool and a fitness center available for the guests.
