Imagine panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, sensational sunsets, rooms with romantic ambiance, and common spaces with a relaxed luxury vibe. That is the Mr. & Mrs. White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa. Located on the west coast of Crete, fifteen kilometres from Chania, Mr. & Mrs. White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa is a charming resort sprawled across 13 acres of pure, tranquil Greek island cliffside.

Location

Mr & Mrs White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa is located on the western side of Crete, on the western edge of a spit of land north of Chania. With breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and unparalleled sunsets, it is set in an enviable location.

While there’s plenty to do on property (two outdoor saltwater pools, one indoor saltwater pool, a luscious garden with palms, banana trees, and local Cretan flora, a spa with an extensive treatment menu), there’s also plenty to do within a short distance. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the western part of Crete. On this side of Crete you will find some of the best beaches in Crete as well as numerous small villages and hamlets.

Hotel Rooms

The Mr & Mrs White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa hotel has three room and five suite categories. The entry level room is the Superior Garden View room, with a spacious terrace or balcony and garden views. The next two categories are Superior rooms with either a partial sea view or a full sea view. Guests can also select a Junior Suite with either garden or sea views, or a standard room with a shared pool, exclusive to these rooms. These rooms are spacious, offering guests a luxurious king-size bed, seating area, and large bathrooms with rain showers and ample counter space.

The two top suites are the luxury spa suite and the honeymoon suite. Both have private pools. The Luxury Spa Suite, which can accommodate up to three people, offers guests exclusive use of the hammam and spa as well. The Honeymoon Suite, which only accommodates two people,  is much more private, with unobstructed views over the Mediterranean and a private pool and Jacuzzi. Each suite has a spacious lounge and terrace, a separate bedroom, and large, airy bathroom with a rain shower.

All rooms have their own terraces or balconies, air conditioning, satellite TV, wifi, an in-room safe, and a mini fridge.

Restaurants at Mr & Mrs White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa

Mr & Mrs White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa offers guests three beautiful restaurants. Myrto is he main restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast consists of a sumptuous buffet of freshly baked breads, buns, traditional Cretan pies, sweet and savory pastries, Greek yogurt, and local cheeses. This is accompanied by fresh fruits, fruit salads, and seasonal vegetables, as well as tea and coffee. They also provide local honey, marmalade, and jams, nuts and dried fruits, and a wide selection of locally produced baklavas and other sweet treats. Guests can also order from a selection of hot dishes based on Greek recipes, as well as visit an omelet station where eggs can be cooked to order.

Guests can also dine at Eros Pool Bar for lunch or an afternoon snack. Eros, which is located next to the crystal clear saltwater swimming pools, is open through sunset and offers a light menu including a host of amazing cocktails and mocktails. We actually enjoyed our lunch in the honeymoon suite. For couples and families wishing to enjoy lunch in their rooms or suites, it’s perfectly doable and intimate.

Onyx Lounge and Bar is located within the main building, on a large terrace with sweeping views of the Mediterranean. Here, guests can enjoy a selection of teas and coffees, cocktails, wines, and more, all with the amazing backdrop of the sea.

Pools and Spa Services

Mr & Mrs White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa has three pools, and a children’s wading pool, and a gym. All pools are saltwater, and one is indoors, just in case of bad weather. The pools and their surrounding areas are spacious and lined with comfortable deck chairs, couches, and ottomans or settees. Pool towels are available for guests free of charge.

Spa and hammams are so important in Greek and Cretan culture, so of course Mr & Mrs White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa offers an extensive spa treatment menu. With a variety of aromatherapy and soothing massages, deep hydration and restoration treatments, and other unique massage treatments, the resort and spa focuses on total mind, body, and spiritual health. They also have a steam room, sauna, and hydro massage bath.

I enjoyed a very relaxing massage while there. Their massage staff are all professionals, who are specially trained to guide guests to determine the best treatments.

The Local Area

Western Crete is a spit of land featuring extraordinary landscapes, epic beaches and cliffs, and charming fishing villages with incredibly friendly people.

Right nearby Mr & Mrs White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa is the Stavros beach, made famous in Zorba the Greek. The hotel offers complimentary shuttles to Stavros. Other nearby beaches include Kalathas, Tesernas, Marathi, and Loutraki. At these, you can enjoy a casual swim, relax on the white sand, try your balance at paddleboarding, snorkel, or sip a cold cocktail at a local taverna. For the more adventurous, the secret Macherida beach is a short walk or swim away.

Agia Triada monastery is another popular spot near the hotel. Drenched in culture and history, the monastery is also known for selling wine and olive oil. It was built in the 17th century by Venetian brothers, on the city of a pre-existing church, and heavily damaged (later restored) in the war against the Turks in the 19th century. In the 19th century, the monastery became an important theological school, and in the later part of the century it became a seminary. The monastery library houses some very rare and important theological works.

Chania, the main town on the western side of Crete, is a bustling port town. Once a thriving Minoan settlement, the Byzantine and Arab eras saw little in the way of growth. Under the Venetians (13th century) the city flourished as a commercial centre. Today, it is a large town with a historic centre, and primarily a tourist destination. The Kasteli core is virtually untouched and it is worth exploring the narrow streets. The main square in the old town is lined with shops and restaurants, always busy with locals and tourists. Chania is a great day trip from the hotel.

Mr & Mrs White Crete Lounge Resort and Spa is a delightful, secluded place to stay while in Crete. Spacious rooms and tranquil common spaces, exciting restaurants with locally sourced and traditional dishes, plenty of pool and beach space all combine to form a hotel with character and welcoming Greek hospitality. I highly recommend this hotel for your next visit to Western Crete.
