Head to the Beach

When is the best time to visit Mykonos
Mykonos is very touristic during the summer months between June and August. Tourists visit from all over Europe, especially the UK and Germany, in large numbers. Therefore, you’ll find bars, restaurants, and beaches rather busy during this period.
But if you decide to come in May or September, you can avoid the larger crowds. September is a great month to visit Greece because it is often cheaper, and the temperatures are still hot but far more pleasant than they are in July and August. Better still, you’ll find the beaches are far quieter.
How to get from the airport to the city center?
Mykonos is a tiny island, which is excellent for getting to and from the airport. Although many people opt to catch a ferry to the island, some tourists prefer to fly.
Taxis: The most popular way to get to the city center is to use a taxi because they are convenient and available.
Bus: An alternative is to catch a bus, but they are not always available, and you might have to wait a while during the summer months. However, it is a cheaper option than a taxi. It costs around 1.50 euros and takes approximately 15 minutes to get to Mykonos Town.

How to get around the island
There are so many ways to get around Mykonos. The island is small, only 12 to 15 kilometers in length and 10 kilometers in width, so you could even cycle around it if you want to get some exercise.
Walk: There are no cars or motorbikes in Mykonos Town, so you’ll need to walk around. But that’s not a problem because the streets are well paved, and you’ll find many excellent bars, shops, and alleys to explore.
Buses: Mykonos has a bus network, and the island has two bus stations. The central bus station is Fabrica, and you can catch a bus to Platis Gialos every 30 minutes, Paraga every hour, and Paradise every 30 minutes. Night buses run to Platis Gialos and Paradise every 30 minutes.
The other bus station is the Northern Bus Station. You can catch the bus to Elia, Ano Mera, Panormos, and Kalafatis from here.
Taxis: Taxis are a good option, but they are challenging to find during the summer months. That’s because the island only has 30 taxis, so during the peak season of June to August, you’ll have to fight for a taxi. However, they are fast, which is excellent for 2 days in Mykonos itinerary.
Water Taxis: Many tourists opt to take a water taxi around the city. A good option is the water taxis running from famous beaches, such as Paranga, Super Paradise, Agari, and Elia. You can get a day pass for 20 euros, which is a very reasonable cost.
Hire a Car or Motorbike: Perhaps the best way to have freedom is to hire a car or a motorbike. It saves a lot of stress trying to find buses and getting taxis. However, you should prepare yourself for traffic jams in the peak season and trouble finding parking spaces.
